For the last couple years I've been working with a G4/400, which was second from the top of the line when I bought it. It was just replaced with a G4 dual 867, which is now the bottom of the line G4. The vid card that this model came with is a NVIDIA GeForce4 MX. Apple says its an 'upgrade' from what I had before. However, the resolution does not seem as crisp as my previous setup.
I'm not a gamer, but I spend most of my day in Photoshop. Seeing small details is critical. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I have attempted to upgrade video cards?

I have no idea of what these things are. I've always relied on Apple to put the best components into their machines (they ought to, for what they cost compared to Windoz machines). Thanks and regards. Stanton wrote: For the last couple years I've been working with a G4/400, which was second from the top of the line when I bought it. I'm pretty sure that the card is probably not at fault here. You didn't mention anything about the monitor that you have attached to this new machine. Did you purchase a new one or are you still using the same one that you had on your old system? I can't remember if the NVIDIA GeForce4 MX had all digital outputs or an VGA and a digital (ADC). In general, if you have monitor with a digital intrface, most of the displays are really sharp.
Thanks for the reply, Jack. I am using a 4 year old Viewsonic PS790. It is a VGA type. And now that you mention it, the vid card requires an adapter. Actually, the card has two different kinds of ports. The second port requires totally different type of adapter. I'm not sure what it is or how much it costs.
I'd sure love to run two monitors. Perhaps the digital VGA conversion is causing loss of sharpness. Which CRT's come with a digital interface? I'm not interested in flat screen yet because of calibration and viewing issues.
